Funny Stories

This weekend we spent a lot of time with Mike's family and had a really good time! They decided to shoot off fireworks on Sunday night and Gavin did pretty good - he ended up wanting to go inside to "eat dinner" or to get away from the noise. Mike's mom came inside with us and we were all sitting on the couch and the dog came up to Mary and sniffed her shoes and Gavin said, "Is the doggy going to eat Grandma?" It was so sweet and so innocent, he was truly concerned.

Yesterday Gavin and I went to my parents house before his doctor's appointment and then we stopped by again after his appointment and when we came back my parents had rearranged their living room furniture, we walked in and Gavin said, "Grammy, what did you do?" It was so funny! My dad hates to move furniture and my mom loves to do it so Gavin's response was priceless!

We had Gavin's 2 year pictures done this weekend, I will post some of them tomorrow!

Pictures

I just found some of these pics on the computer and I don't think they have ever been posted - keep looking if you are interested there will be some new ones toward the end!

In no particular order!

Such a happy baby boy from the very beginning!

Classic Gavin - spikey hair and a sweet smile! Snow Day - this was his first time to play in the snow and he loved it! I think he would have stayed out there all day if I would have let him!

This was his first Christmas pictures - I love that chubby face!

This was New Year's Eve 2009 - I just like this picture!

This was also New Year's Eve 2009 - I think that this will be Gavin's wife someday!

I love this picture because he looks so sweet - actually the only way we could get him to cooperate for the pictures was to give him Cheerios and he almost dropped one out of his mouth and that would have been bad!

This picture makes me laugh because it reminds me of a senior picture - I have a big one just like this in my living room!

This is just a few days ago out in front of our house, he found one of his dad's hats and he loves it!

It had just stopped raining and he wanted to walk out in the grass, needless to say he didn't make it very far - Mike said this picture looks like he is going to the bathroom!

Sweet BIG boy!

Here he is helping Pa and Grandma on his swingset that they got for him! They put all sorts of handles on the sides so he can do it all by himself! He LOVES to swing and slide!

Enjoying his first Push-Up! Contrary to what the picture looks like he did manage to get some in his mouth and really enjoyed it!

This was when he was probably around 6 months old - his favorite thing to do was to jump in his jumper! He would jump for such long periods of time, it was kind of sad when he got to big to jump anymore!

This was his baby dedication at church, we are so blessed with a great church family that loves Gavin almost as much as we do! He loves his Sunday School class and teachers and we love that he loves them so much!
He has started to pray now and it is the sweetest thing I have ever heard in my life! He will only do it at bedtime but it is so sincere and he is so excited when he is done! I love it!

This is the day that Gavin's adoption was final - a great day for the Brock family of 3!

Just a fun picture of Gavin and mommy - Gavin is trying to get the camera but it's still cute!

First time with baby food! Even though he wasn't a fun at the time he loves them still today! It's the only way I can get him to eat his vegetables!

First Christmas season! I love the hat and the shirt - the whole package actually!

First Fall Festival at Church! A cuddly little lion!

I am not sure how old he was here, probably only a few months but look at that robe!

I don't think I even need a caption for this picture! It speaks for itself!
Just another picture that is too cute not to post!

And finally, our first time to meet Gavin! This is a day that I will never forget - so many emotions but mainly just so thankful that we finally get to embark on the journey of parenthood! I don't know if I have ever said this or not but we are so thankful, words don't even begin to describe it, to his birth parents and their families for giving us this precious gift! You all have made my dreams come true and I hope that you can tell by the pictures just how loved and adored he is by everyone that meets him! I know that Gavin is truly a gift from the Lord and I know that He will continue to bless everyone that has been a part of this journey!

Birthday Party

This year we had Gavin's 2nd birthday party at Amberg Entertainment and needless to say - he loved it! He jumped and jumped until he just couldn't jump anymore - or so we thought - and then he would start back up again! It was a great time, for everyone, even the adults got to jump! Anyway, here are some pictures from his party - he was a champ at blowing out the candles on his cake! Such a big boy now! After we got home we were watching the video that Mike took and Gavin looked at me and said, "That was Awesome!"

This picture is from the "prize booth" - when you go inside the turn it on and the air blows up the all the "money" and you have to grab it and hold on to it and then you get to redeem your prize! I was worried that he wouldn't like this but he loved it and he worked so hard to grab his money! He got a snake as his prize - such a boy!
Funny story about his party - since the adults were allowed to participate my dad, me, Gavin and Josh, Mike's brother, were all inside the inflatable jumping with Gavin. I was sitting in the corner trying to take pictures of Gavin and dad and Josh were jumping with Gavin - somehow the hose came unhooked from the inflatable and the whole thing started closing in on us - it was crazy! We thought that we broke it and I was concerned about getting us all out because it was deflating fast! I guess in the end it was no big deal because the worker just came and reconnected it and all was good again! Pretty funny watching us adults try to get out of the deflated inflatable though!

Sweet

I know I say this a lot but Gavin is really sweet and very funny. For only being 2, he is very observant and is teaching me a lot about what I say and do and to make sure that it is always pleasing to the Lord! So, I thought that I would share a few funny things that he has done this past week!

1. We were riding in the car with the radio on and Gavin said, "Momma, I tired!" To which I replied, "Just close your eyes and take a rest." He didn't say anything for a minute and then I heard a sound from the backseat like whimpering, I asked him if he was ok and he said "I sad." I asked him why he was sad and he said, "I so tired, my eyes hurt, my ear hurts, my tummy hurts and my toe hurts." Needless to say, he was exhausted but wouldn't go to sleep when we got home!

2. We rode with my parents to church last night and I was in the back seat with Gavin. There was a song on the radio and we were all talking. Gavin said, "Look momma, I songin'!" I looked over at him and he was dancing in his car seat. He was really getting with it too!

3. My dad likes to watch Gunsmoke and there are reruns on in the afternoon. Yesterday Gavin and my dad were watching an episode and at the end two people kissed, Gavin looked at my dad and giggled and said, "Poppy, they got sugars!" When we want Gavin to give us kisses we ask him for some sugars, I guess he knows what we are talking about! It's amazing how observant he is and makes me realize how we need to screen what we watch on TV!

4. I think this is my favorite one of the day.....On our way home from church Gavin said, "Momma, I tired" I was expecting him to go on to say that everything hurt but instead he then said, "I sad." I asked him why he was sad and his response was, "I wanna pray!" How sweet is that! I asked him if he wanted to pray because he was sad and he said OK. So, we prayed and I asked God to help him to not be sad and to get a good night's sleep and thanked God for bringing him into our lives. We said Amen and that was all he said about it, we got home and got him ready for bed and he played and went right to sleep! It is amazing to me that he is already getting the idea that when we are sad we can talk to God about it and He makes everything ok!

I love this little boy more than you can imagine! His birthday party is this weekend so get ready for some pictures!
