This morning Gavin came out of his room with a hat from our youth group on his head. He loves hats, especially hats his daddy lets him wear! When he came out I told him that I really liked his hat and I asked him where he got it, I expected him to say that Daddy let me wear it or from my bedroom, he said "Walmart."
We were on our way to my parents house to drop Gavin off this morning, just like every morning that I work, and as we pulled off the highway Gavin said, "Where are we going?" I jokingly said, I think we are going to Chicago today." He said, "No momma, we are going to Grammy's house, not cachago" It was so funny listening to him say chicago!
He is growing so quickly, I just want to remember every little thing that he says and does!

Potty Training
Let's just say that it is not going so well! Gavin is not interested AT ALL! I know that he is only 2 1/2 so I am trying not to worry about it but I also don't want to wait too long before we get this under control. Usually, if we start out in the morning he doesn't mind going but by lunch time he is DONE and wants no other part of it. Anyway, he still just tells me that he has a diaper and doesn't need to go potty, so there you have it, no such luck!
Yesterday, my mom put underwear on him before they came to get me from work, he had just went potty so she thought it was safe, but on the way home he peed in his underwear. When we got home, I was trying to put my stuff down and get his new clothes and he proceeds to go into my parents bedroom and close the door.
I went to get him and he said, "Lightning McQueen is wet." I thought he meant that his snow boots were wet from being outside, I was wrong! I grabbed his hand and was taking him to the bedroom and he said, "Mom, this is dangerous!" I looked down and he was walking with his legs all spread out - he had peed all down his leg into his snow boots. He was soaked! I turned around and looked in my parents bedroom and there was a puddle on the carpet. I felt horrible!
My mom said that this is just like having a new puppy! Hopefully, we will get the hang of it soon!

Christmas
Since it is almost Christmas I thought I would post a few of the funny things that Gavin has said over the holiday season!

1. We asked him what he wanted for Christmas and he said, "um, I think I would like a new cuppie and Band Aids" Wouldn't it be nice if his wishlist were always this simple!
2. He had his program at church and he did a great job. I was so nervous because during practice that morning he REFUSED to participate but he did and he did great! If you are friends with Mike on Facebook you can see his video. It's pretty funny - my favorite part is when he stands up and plays the tamborine on his hip!
3. Mike said it's only 2 days until Christmas, Gavin said "I don't want to be sick" So then we explained that it was Jesus' birthday and he said, "Oh, that will be fun"
4. He is not a fan of Santa Claus but he does love to admire him from afar.
5. Mike and Gavin went Christmas shopping for me one night this week while I had dinner with some of my friends. Gavin was not very happy that I was going somewhere without him and he said he wanted to have dinner with the girls too! Mike convinced him that they were going to go somewhere and have fun so Gavin said OK. While they were shopping Mike said that several ladies kept coming up to them saying how cute the whole process was. Mike would pick things up and then let Gavin decide! I am so blessed that Mike wants to do this with Gavin, it makes my gifts so special and we are so lucky to have Mike as a daddy!
6. Candy Canes! Oh my gosh! Pure heaven as far as Gavin is concerned!
7. My parents have a manger scene set up at their house that is just for Gavin, he can pick out all of the people when you ask him who they are. I am very proud of him!
This is a picture of my dad and Gavin in their matching outfits at our church choir performance!
8. Our church participated in the Springfield Christmas Parade and we got to ride on the float. It was raining and freezing but we had so much fun!
Merry Christmas!

Gavin's Girlfriend
Gavin has a cell phone that he likes to play with and he picked it up the other night and said, "hello, ya, ok, um sure, ya, ok, bye!" Which could totally be one of my phone conversations! I thought, that's sweet he hears me talking and wants to talk like me and then he looked at me and said, "That's my girlfriend."
He is 2.
Seriously.
I thought I had a few years at least before he was thinking about the girls!

It finally happened....
I was getting ready for work this morning and Gavin said, "Mom, I see the poopy" So many thoughts went through my head and honestly I was a little scared to go and see what he was talking about but I was also scared to not go and see what he was talking about. I walk into the living room and he has taken off all of his clothes, including his diaper and just standing in the middle of the living room watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I yelled for Mike to come and look at him and his first thought was, did he pee in the floor, to which Gavin replied, "I did not!" So I went and helped him removed the diaper from between his legs and pull his feet out of his footed pajamas and took him back to change him - maybe this is a sign that he is finally ready to potty train!
Boogies!
If you know me at all then you know I am a little fanatical about Gavin having a clean nose, and he is not a fan of getting his nose cleaned AT ALL! Anyway, when it is time for him to have his nose cleaned I will tell him that he has boogies and we have to get them out!
Last night, I was getting ready to go to my holiday party at work and Gavin was staying with Grammy and Poppy, so I got down on my knees and told him to come and tell my goodbye, he came over and said, "I want to go with you" and I said, while leaning over to give him a hug, "that would be fun" he leaned back and said, "Momma, you have a boogie!"
I had touched up my makeup and had some powder in my nose and he thought it was a boogie! He is so funny and I guess he thought he owed me!

Best Friends
Yesterday I had the privilege of staying home with Gavin while my parents went to a doctor's appointment, let me just say that I love this boy! I was sitting in the floor folding laundry and he pulled his Radio Flyer car right up next to the basket and Gavin said, "Mom?" When I looked up at him he said, "Gavi and Momma, best friends!" I replied, with possibly the biggest smile I have ever had, "Yes, yes we are!" He truly melts my heart!
